Introducing Passkeys for Enhanced Security

In our ever-evolving digital landscape, ensuring robust data security is paramount. At ticketeer, safeguarding your personal information has always been our top priority. However, when ticketeer was initially developed, usernames and passwords were the standard for user authentication. As we advance, it’s crucial to adopt more secure and efficient methods to protect your accounts.

The Future of Authentication: Passkeys

We are thrilled to announce that ticketeer now supports authentication using passkeys. Passkeys offer a much quicker and safer way to authenticate. Here’s why passkeys are a game-changer:

  • Enhanced Security: Passkeys eliminate the need for both user names and passwords, which are often the weakest link in account security. Instead, they use cryptographic keys that are unique to your device, making it extremely difficult for unauthorized users to gain access.
  • Convenience and Speed: Passkeys streamline the login process. No more remembering complex passwords or worrying about password resets. Simply use your device’s biometric features, such as fingerprint or facial recognition, to authenticate seamlessly.
  • Multi-Device Support: You can create multiple passkeys on multiple devices, allowing you to sign in from anywhere. This flexibility ensures you can always access your account, regardless of the device you’re using.

Recommendations for Transitioning to Passkeys

  • Create Multiple Passkeys: To enhance security and accessibility, create at least two different passkeys on separate devices. This precaution ensures you have a backup in case one device is lost or damaged.
  • Regularly Update Devices: Ensure that all your devices are regularly updated to support the latest security features and passkey protocols.

Once you’re in, navigate to your accout settings and click the button “Create a new passkey”.
From there you will be presented with the different methods and devices available to you – pick the one that suits you best. You can create multiple passkeys to try out what methods you like and then easily remove the ones you choose not to use.
